Alcoholic Drinks That Won’t Ruin Your Summer Body Goals

Warm weather, beach trips and pool parties are right around the corner and if you’re like me you’ve been trying to get your body ready for the occasion. I started cutting out junk food and working out a little more hoping to see some results. The problem was I was drinking sugary mixed drinks and beer all weekend long so it pretty much canceled out all my hard work! Not only are most alcoholic beverages high in empty calories (i.e. calories that don’t make you full), but your body burns and digests alcohol before it goes for food or fat. So drinking can seriously get in the way of your summer body goals. During my struggles to get fit, I discovered some low calorie alcoholic beverages to replace my typical high calorie choices. Now I’v been able to drink and still lose some lbs!

Vodka Soda

One of these is only 83 calories. The ingredients are exactly what it sounds like, vodka with soda water. Add a lemon or lime to give it a little bit more flavor.

Rum and Diet Coke

At only 96 calories this is a great option. For a twist, add some fresh lime juice.

Wine

Depending on the level of sweetness, a glass of most wines is around 125 calories.

Gin and Soda

Instead of the common gin and tonic, try gin and soda. Tonic water is actually fairly high in sugar and calories. Add a lemon or lime and this drink is a solid choice at only 78 calories.

Light Beers

If you’re more of a beer drinker choose light beers. A 12 oz Bud light lime is only 116 calories. Check out this list of ranked light beers.

Just the Alcohol

Skip all the high calorie mixers and just order a spirit neat or on the rocks. Gin, rum, vodka, whisky, tequila, and cognac are all around 65 calories per serving.

If alcohol is something you’re just not willing to give up for your fitness goals, these low calorie options will allow you to have fun and still look great. Try them out!
