I admire the people who are dedicated to going to the gym everyday, every single week. Honestly, I wish I was one of those people. However, if you’re like me sometimes you just don’t have the time and/or desire to make that gym trip. There are a few exercises I do in times like these and they require no equipment or gym – just your body. This is one of the full-body routines I use when I need to get a quick workout in at home. I like to do 2 upper body exercises, 2 lower body exercises, 2 ab exercises and some cardio. I break the exercises up into 2 circuits followed by the cardio. I always do plyometrics and lifting prior to cardio as this helps burn more calories and build more toned muscles.
Do each exercise in the circuit right after the other. Do each circuit 3 times. Then do the jumping jacks. Do as many jumping jacks as you can in 30 seconds then rest for 30 seconds. Repeat this for 10 to 15 minutes (know your body’s limits). Gradually increase the number of sets and/or reps every two weeks. It’s so important to understand the limits of your body. Getting in shape takes time and patience. Don’t rush it as this can lead to injuries. Stretch before and after. Most importantly enjoy the burn!
Note: I have linked how-to’s to each workout in case you’re not sure how to do them.
10 Push Ups
10 Lunges (each leg)
10 Runners Crunches (each side)
Jumping Jacks for 10-15 min
I will add more at home workouts in the future so stay tuned!
